Our condo offers ample space, (988 sq. ft.), privacy and a prime location. With two bathrooms, two king sized beds, and a queen sized convertible sofa, it can comfortably accommodate four guests. Enjoy the cable TVs in each room, and Wi-Fi and parking are free.

  We love Hale Kai and have been brining our growing family for close to a decade. #211 was nice and spacious and was wonderful to have the upstairs loft and bathroom for our kids. The unit is a little dark (which helped everyone sleep), and not as ocean front as we are used to, but it was clean and well maintained. Could use some upgrades, but you can't beat the location of Hale Kai.

  I stay at Hale Kai everytime I visit Maui. It's in a perfect location. Everything you'd need is within walking distance. Plus Maui has an exceptional transportation system and the bus stop is just steps away. The staff is exceptionally helpful and friendly. I always find the unit in spotless condition. My sister and niece traveled with me this year and are already talking about next year. We had a wonderful time. I can highly recommend Hale Kai if you're looking for a reasonably priced unit in a great location.

  I love this place. My 4th time at Hale Kai..3rd in this unit. It's location is great. Walkable to groceries, morning coffee and restaurants. Decor is straight out of the 70s but the unit is immaculately clean and well equipped. Love the park/ocean view off the deck. Only downside is the street noise at night. But, it's right off the street so it's to be expected and it's not overwhelming.

  Quite a unique experience from the major high rise experience. It is reminiscent of places you would find in the 60’s or 70’s but with all the amenities. The pool overlooked the ever changing ocean..next door was a lovely park with a small beach. The people were a mix of owners and renters..they take pride in the upkeep and everything was in great shape and clean. It was almost like staying at a friend’s place.

  ..I'd like to keep it my little secret. This was my second time at Hale first time in this unit and my only issue was hearing the cars at night...the unit is on the end right by the road. That aside, it's really a nice unit and worked well for me and my sister-in-law. Each of us having our own bedroom and bathroom was priceless...sometimes you just need that alone time. Hale Kai is located in a perfect spot...everything you need is within walking distance. The property is extremely well maintained; the office staff friendly and helpful...I love it here. If I can get back to Maui, I'll definitely stay there again...

  We have noticed an increase in traffic over the years. Late night street noise takes getting use to but we continue to stay here for the price, convenice, View and friendly people.   This condo was one of the few units that had air conditioning so that was very nice! Cleanliness was satisfactory, but not perfect.You could still see the ocean from the balcony of this unit, even though the balcony did not face the ocean directly. We stayed there with our family of five and there was plenty of space. It was a little difficult walking around to different stores, only because there wasn't a sidewalk on both sides of the main Street. There are also some good restaurants nearby that are within walking distance. The beach at Hale Kai is not that great.. we always drove to a better beach. However, if I ever go to Maui again, I would most definitely stay here again.

  We enjoyed our stay at the Hale Kai 211. The condo was spacious and well laid out. The tree out the window was great for privacy and looked nice. The park was nice to see with all the families enjoying a day out. Having the ocean so close, and a pool were lovely.
  
  The suggestions I have for you to consider are: ensure the condo is vacuumed before each guest, the bathrooms cleaned before each guest and consider replacing the mattress on the loft bed in the suite. We found it had a dip in the middle that made sleeping awkward.
  
  Besides those suggestions, I have to say the units were well managed, the managers approachable, the complex was quiet, the grounds lovely and we would book again - if we could rely on the unit being clean and the bed in better shape. We did have a nice time and thank you for that.

  I stayed at Hale Kai 211 for two weeks in January. The unit was as advertised, it was clean, the unit has AC and is well maintained. The on-site management company was responsive and friendly. I love the location- adjacent to a park with playground, ocean front pool, across from coffee shop and farmer's market, and access to beautiful small beach. The complex is small and taken care of and is smoke free. Owners are welcoming and helpful. Good snorkelling and daily turtle and whale sightings! This is my second visit and am sure I will return.

  This property ad has very creative photography and deceptive descriptions. It is old and tired, with a ceiling fan that clacks and whines. The upstairs air conditioner dripped constantly onto the front doormat. The shower had black mold around the door. The hot water faucet did not work in the bathroom. the dishwasher did not work. My brother booked an adjacent unit and the shower did not work at all. He was asked "what do you expect from a bargain unit?" when he complained. The AC remote was not available until 2 days after we arrived. While it may be 150 feet from the seawall, it is 20 feet from 1 of the busiest roads on west Maui. You will never hear the surf, but you will be disgusted with the road noise. The condo faces the park, with a sideview of the ocean. The pool is approximately 30x50 feet. We stayed for 15 days, but no linen change was offered after 1 week. Instead, we washed and dried our linens (1 towel, hand towel and washcloth per guest!) in the commercial laundry facility. So- why did we stay? A bombproof cancellation policy that requires cancellation 60 days prior. For $175/night, do yourself a favor and book elsewhere.

    It is regretful that you had issues with the condo while you were here in Maui. If you had mentioned any of the problems to our management at Hale Kai they would have been more than happy to address them. Per our rental manager Valerie there was a gentleman from your group that was in the office on several occasions and never mentioned any problems. The only problem was the AC leaking and it was repaired while you were there and even that was not mentioned to Valerie she found out from the next door neighbors that the door way was wet. We take it very serious of making our guests happy with their stay at Hale Kai. We could not find anything else wrong in the unit which is puzzling. Extra towels and bedding were in the linen closet inside the bedroom closet. Also per Valerie shower in your brother’s unit did work they just had to be shown how to turned it on. We have an office and staff on property that can be contacted at any time to address any problems.

  I have stayed at Hale Kai before and returned with my grown son and his girlfriend.
  
  The oceanfront is gorgeous and the reef right out from is full of life. Huge sea turtles visit every day.
  
  I love the location and small complex with locals mixed with visitors. I love the park next door and the Farmer's Market store, as well as the Fish Store.
  
  The unit was spacious and in good repair. There were a couple of things that needed attention and they are always prompt to take care of them.
  
  The only downside is the road outside and amount of activity on and along the road sometimes late into the night and early in the morning.
  
  I plan to return again someday if I am able.

  Hale Kai was clean, roomy bedrooms, nice kitchen & amenities. Didn't need to bring towels or a hairdryer. The kitchen was well stocked, dishes, spices even a rice cooker. Laundry facilities & a great recycling area. There was a park with a beach right beside, a swimming pool with a view of the ocean, a farmers market a block away as well as stores & a Boss Frog rental place. The staff were very friendly & helpful at Hale Kai. The only dark spot was the traffic noise, it began early and ended late if at all. I think the units farther from the road, closer to the ocean would be quieter with just the sound of the waves.

  My husband and I, along with another couple spent a week at Hale Kai! We had a wonderful experience and plan to return again! The turtles in front of the property were fabulous and frequent - you couldn't miss them! The property staff (especially Valerie and Marie) were amazing and extremely friendly and responsive. the unit we stayed in was clean and well taken care of. If we had one complaint, it was small; the wi-fi for the property was inconsistent at best yet we did learn that they were working through an issue with that system, during our stay.   Lovely location.home away from home. Opposite awesome food spot. Nothing was a problem for management. Great Aloha service. We did have to travel back to Lahaina for a surf but the car rentals n fuel is cheap as and the bus was $4 all day from 6 am til 9pm. Turtles n manta rays right next to the pool. Great spot.

  The dishwasher had not been installed properly. We had to pull it out to start it. The dishes in the cabinet were dirty and there were sugar ants running around on the plates. The road noise was bad. The pictures of the property were misleading. The place was much smaller than the pictures showed. The water was turned off on the last day 5 minutes before check-out. This was not a good place at all.

  Loved our stay, the lil private beach was perfect- and the turtles were so amazing. Def will come back, the location was great & loads of friendly people.
  #211 was great, loved the new kitchen and we loved the space.
  The only thing to be aware of is that you will hear the road noise, but it was not that bad & didn't bother us.

  We were very disappointed that the Lonely Planet description of Hale Kai left out the information that the resort is very, very near to the busiest road in the area. We heard motorcycles, garbage trucks, cars with loud mufflers and almost constant road noise while we were there for 15 days. We would not return to Hale Kai

  This unit was almost perfect. Some things a little dated but very clean. I would have given it a 5 except that the beds (I tried all 3) were very bad. The office staff was perfect. The location is grand with whales visible from the pool and the beach was clean and not crowded at all....until the turtles came ashore. Doesn't get any better than that. Thank you Hale Kai for making our vacation both affordable and convenient.

  Loved the location and Unit at Hale Kai. We had four adults and one toddler and the unit was comfortable for all of us. It was a nice bonus having A/C in the unit. The view was fantastic overlooking a lovely park and ocean. Walked to get coffee each morning across the street, farmer's market and massages. We visited a different beach each day never having to drive more than 15-20 minutes and loved them all! Pool was fantastic and loved seeing the turtles right out front. Will definitely be back here when we return to Maui.

  We enjoyed our stay. The location was fantastic, and right next to the park. The view to the beach was lovely.
  Our only comment is the condo laundry was locked up, had to use the onsite (pay per use) laundry. The AC unit was also missing the remote, we assume locked up as well.
  We've never experienced that in other units and was disappointed.
  Other than that, nice 2 bedroom unit.

  The unit is very old and in need of repair and upgrading. The patio screen door would not close properly, neither did the bedroom door on the main floor. The mixer didn't work and there was an enormous amount of grime down the side of the fridge by the opening. It hadn't been cleaned for months. The view and location were great and we did see alot of turtles at the beach. the pool and BBQ area were nice. Being at the front of the building there was excessive street noise making it hard to sleep.

  Cleaning staff should be fired. Spent first day cleaning before we could sleep. Handfuls of hair in shower drains, filthy mirrors, blood stains on "clean"sheets, disgustingly filthy bedspreads, un-speakables under beds, maid service didn't even turn on dishwasher or take out garbage, shag carpets had stuff buried in it, tiles missing in bathroom, build up of years of crud on inside kitchen cupboard door handles, (took photos) had to take them off and clean them ourselves, pubic hair in bathrooms around baseboards, loud eccentric full time tenant fed 1,000 birds from her deck at 6am every day, rude clique around pool made us feel unwelcome BUT office staff and location was fantastic. YES would go back (prepared to clean it myself)
