Aloha and welcome to Hale Kai # 102

Beautiful one bedroom condo with king bed and sleeper sofa that can accommodate up to four people. Children and long term rentals are welcome. Located in Honokawai, which is between Kaanapali and Kapalua in West Maui. The condo is located literally 50' from the beach and adjacent to a park. Unit #102 is located on the ground floor and enjoys direct ocean views.

You can not get much closer to the beautiful Maui Pacific Ocean paradise!

Honokawai has some of the best weather in Maui with afternoon breezes that keep it much cooler than the much hotter Lahaina and Kihei areas, or the rainy Kapalua area. The Hale Kai complex is across the street from a market/deli and several small restaurants.

The condo was fully remodeled in 2009 with all new ceramic flooring, extensive can lighting, a fully remodeled bathroom and kitchen featuring granite counters, stainless steel appliances and maple cabinetry. All furniture is new with a Maui beach cottage theme.

The complex features a pool, laundry facilities, parking and barbeques.

Hale Kai is located in Honokawai, which is halfway between Kaanapali and Kapalua. This small area is very laid back but has all the amenities you could need, with a small market and church accross the street, several delis and restaurants a short walk away and other services. Also the weather of Honokawai is cooler than Lahaina and much less rainy than Kapalua. The beach in front of Hale Kai offers nice snorkeling and one can often see green sea turtles in the morning and evening.

Had a great stay at the Hale Kai, unit 102. Location was great and loved the overall chill vibe of the place. If you're looking to avoid any of the big resorts and huge crowds associated with places like that then this is the place for you. Other guests were very nice and the owners who live there full time are super helpful and friendly (Rita was hilarious and sweet as could be!).
Unit 102 itself was nice and clean. The view and being next to the park were fantastic. My only recommendation to the owner would be to get a new bed as the current bed was a bit squishy.
All in all a fantastic stay and wouldn't hesitate to go back. In fact....wish I was there right now!

We are not "fancy people" and were seeking to avoid a resort experience. We were more interested in experiencing a community and cannot believe our good luck in coming across a rare opening at Hale Kai in the short term.

Our first night we were taught to blow the conch at sunset. We could walk a few steps into the public park and on to the beach with our first cup of coffee and greet the day. And we witnessed the most beautiful sunset either of us has ever seen from our lanai but feet away from the park after a day of solid rain. Locals and folks from other vacation homes not on the shore along with those of us at Hale Kai all gathered and mingled after the incredibly drenching day, brief rainbow, and then the remarkable sunset. We were here for some historically bad weather, but this evening erased any of the negatives. We really were in an aloha neighborhood and especially aloha Hale Kai.

Our unit was very comfortable. We wish we could bring the bed home... maybe it was the surf but our own bed no longer passes muster. We got over the [high quality] plastic dinner and glassware (some glasses are actually glass).

We were here during extremely high surf and uncommon western winds.Our location close to beach and on ground level remained an asset; no intrusive water was an issue except for a plumbing issue which was responsibly resolved.

Hale Kai has so many returnees and even permanent residents that in no way do you feel like you are going to be anonymous; come to Hale Kai if you like people. You don't have to be overly engaged, but if you do, you will make friends.

Farmers' and fish market right across the street and fairly central to where you will want to explore, we recommend this unit in spades!

We spent 10 nights over the 2018 Christmas holiday at the condo. We simply loved it & found the small size of the property to be wonderful. As #102 is ground level with great views & easy access to beach & pool areas, it is probably the premier unit within the facility. Resort staff was cordial & very helpful. While not impacting our stay or of great significance, unit does seem to have some delayed maintenance needs. We loved it & would highly recommend our experience to others.

We had an amazing time staying in Hale Kai! Location is just perfect. We the beach one step a way, the shops and the park we could not ask for a better location. I was afraid it might be too hot with no air conditioner but no. It was great! The breeze coming from the ocean cooling down the air it didn’t felt too hot at all. There are tide pools right there on low tide times and sea turtles coming on high tide just in front of the complex. Definitely high recommended!

The condominium was a great location. The condo was steps from the ocean, safe, clean and provided good customer service. The condo was spacious. It would be great for 2 people sharing the very comfortable king size bed. I would NOT recommend the sleeper sofa.The mattress was so bad we could not use. My 20 yr old nephew was content sleeping on top of the sofa, which was comfortable.

This was a nice place to spend a few days. The room was literally right on the ocean. Amenities were good, and it's . a good location.
Pros:
-You can walk outside and be on the beach
-There's a park right outside your door

-We watched whales right from the room
-Good price compared to everything else

Cons:
-It got pretty sticky since there is no AC. They probably have a protective type cover on the bed(understandable), so the bed gets very hot, which made sleeping uncomfortable.
-If the people above you (this unit is bottom floor) make any noise at all, you WILL hear them. We had people above that loved to pound on their heels when they walked, and also slid the chairs on the floor. Very noisy.

Overall it was a good place to stay for the price.

We loved this low key, right on the water, steps to the beach, watch sunsets and turtles from the window, great family condo. We stayed in 102 and we loved it. Our front door opened to a view of the pool and ocean. Our lanae was next to the public park beach. Our bedroom windows had beautiful hibiscus plants that provided privacy and shade. Breezes from the window kept us cool at night and we could hear the surf. The unit had everything we needed including a well-equipped kitchen. We made breakfast every morning and ate on the lanae. The pool area was fantastic with lounge chairs, tables, and great umbrellas. The adjacent beach was perfect for swimming and snorkeling. We frequently saw sea turtles. We would definitely stay again.

This is not a party type condo it's mostly older people with a few families with small children.

This is our second time staying at Hale Kai and we can't wait to come back again. Our condo was recently renovated and in great condition. We stayed a week on the park side and had a wonderful time. The condo is across the street from our favorite natural food store with lots of options for all dietary needs. We wish we could have been able to trade our towels in for freshly laundered ones. Having only one beach towel each can get challenging. We highly recommend Hale Kai to family and friends. You can't find a better place right on the beach!

We stayed in unit 102 for 9 days and it was the best Maui vacation we have ever had! The sliding door walks right out to the beach and park (with kids playground). The front door walks out to the pool. Right across the street is a farmers market and coffee shop. The unit was very clean and updated. The kitchen was updated too. The residents and other guests were really friendly. It was the best vacation ever! HIGHLY recommend Hale Kai.

I did a review shortly after I received a review request but it appears it did not go through.
First, I want to commend Valerie in the office. She is efficient and always accommodating. This is evidenced by the time she has been with Hale Kai.

We have been coming to Hale Kai over many years staying in different units depending on whether we come alone or with friends. It is nice to see that many owners are redecorating and replacing old equipment to update their units.

This is our second stay in unit 102 and enjoyed our stay very much. However, the unit does need some TLC to bring it up to excellent rating.

Love this unit. It is a little bit of heaven. Valerie (office Manager) is a treasure and makes everyone feel at home. Only suggestion for the Condo owners is to update outdoor furniture and new pillows and comforter for bed.

This is a lovely one-bedroom condo with a cozy living room. The sectional sofa contains a sofa bed, so you can actually sleep four people in this unit. My family and I rented #101 and #102 together and that worked perfectly for our group. The beach and pool are right outside either your front or back door. There is also a nice park and shopping within walking distance. The location cannot be beat. We loved the Hale Kai!

We enjoyed our days in paradise. The trade-winds kept us cool and our condo overlooking the park and ocean kept us mesmerized. The sea turtles, sunsets and rainbows provided many photo ops! The ocean waves provided great background sounds for sleeping. Valeri was super from beginning to end and provided us answers to our many questions. The facility has been kept up so nicely. It looks better than it did 20 years ago.

We were absolutely thrilled to stay in 102. We had been recommended to that particular condo by a friend who visits from Cody, as well. The access to the beach was fantastic. We enjoyed the comfortable setting both in and out of the condo. The kitchen was very well appointed, and we enjoyed cooking and eating local fare from the Farmer's Market just across the street. The proximity to the public park was wonderful. Watching local families enjoy the park was so entertaining, and we were witness to a sweet wedding, as well.

The condo was clean and comfortable. We had family in Maui for a wedding, and the large couch was able to accommodate some of our visitors. They were impressed with 102 and have expressed interest in renting, too.

Management was very helpful and generous with their time, but we never felt they were "watching" over our shoulder. The laundry and recycle facility was very convenient. Many of the owners were in residence for their annual meeting, and were very friendly and full of information about local attractions.

We spent much time on the beach, in the water, and in the neighborhood. The turtle population was thrilling to see. What a place! Location, location, location.

We thank Kale Hai and everyone who went into making our stay perfect. We can't wait to call it home again! Mahalo!

Love the location. The people are what makes Hali Kai so special. It says a lot when you meet couples who have been coming 30 plus years. We love the location that is walking distance to fish market , grocery store and Boardwalk that is great to walk on. Our unit could use new out door furniture but other than that we loved it.

If you love a quiet vacation in paradise Hale Kai is the place to be. We love Hale Kai. It's not a giant hotel setting, it's a small property with lovely fully self contained condo units. We've been coming to Hale Kai for 10 years and sometimes twice a year. This trip we stayed in Unit 102; first floor facing the park. Having the park right outside our lanai gives that open outdoorsy feel with the beach mere steps away. The Unit itself is clean, modern and very comfortable; and the staff are very friendly and helpful. We love Hale Kai and have recommended this property to friends and family.

Great location, view, area, etc. Far enough away from the big resorts, but close enough to necessary destinations. Condo was not totally cleaned; toilet seat very loose and I asked for it to be fixed; no follow through from the manager. I tightened it myself as best I could, but it was filthy. A small plastic step stool in the bedroom closet was fit only for the garbage.
Otherwise, we enjoyed the condo and its location, the park right next to it, the market across the street, etc. We hope to return again!

I just returned from an amazing stay in unit 102, and can't seem to stop gushing about how wonderful our stay was. Mind you, we spent the first part of our stay at an estate in Makena (for my 9/24/14 wedding) so there was tough competition and if I'm honest, I fully expected to be comfortable but uninspired after being so spoiled. I was pleasantly surprised. Driving up to the property, I got a little worried, the area is a tad questionable if you're used to ritzier areas, but all of my fears disappeared after seeing the unit. Check-in was seamless (almost non-existant, def low maintenance) and the unti is looks brand new. Clean was an understatement. Bathroom is brand new, bedroom is adorable and also attractive and the kitchen is wonderful. Then there's the beach...literally right outside of your door. Go outside and oput your toes in the sand. The neighborhood ended up being very quiet too. There's no central AC but we were very comfortable, and one of the best parts of our stay was listening to the crash of the waves all day and all night. Nothing like it. That's how close you are. The beach is often at high tide, and not great for snorkelling, being lined with rocks which makes for constant waves but it's GORGEOUS and still convenient for a relaxing ocean swim to cool off. I would for sure recommend this unit to friends and plan on returning in the future :)

We had a great stay at Hale Kai. Friendly people in other units and Valerie and Liz in the office were very accommodating and helpful. They manage to get a lot done even with constant interruptions of walk in guests and ringing phones! Good job ladies, Thank you!
Most guests were friendly except for a few who were bothered by children in the pool at 9am having noisy fun
Unit 102 is great, nice big kitchen, nice bathroom, but the King size bed is very high and was difficult to get into. Perhaps getting rid of the box spring and replacing the mattress with a new pillow top mattress would solve this problem
So, unit 102 is very nice, staff is great , location is convenient , the HK is just like home and we're looking forward to our next stay there!

We stayed in Hale Kai #102 for our 15yr anniversary and had a wonderful time. The location was great. Because we were on the bottom floor/park side, we met many of the other guests and even a few locals enjoying the park. The Market and grocery store were close which made it nice for meals and snacks. The unit had snorkel gear, chairs and other beach items so we didn't have to rent or buy anything for our beach adventures. I enjoyed my morning walk along the sidewalk every day. We are ready to book our next trip back and will definitely stay at Hale Kai again and hopefully this unit!

This space was perfect for our family of four - boy 10, girl 13. Might not work for older kids or adults who need more space than the couch. The location makes up for any feeling of cramped quarters. There is easy access to the ocean, a big park for kids to play, a coffee shop and a market across the park, and many Maui highlights are just minutes away. Other residents were very relaxed and respectful. All in all a great place to relax and enjoy Maui. Wish I would have stayed here longer rather than stay the second half in Kihei. Definitely will be back.

A personal greeting from the manager who supplied a box of chocolates and walked us through the unit. The unit was nicely updated and contained everything we needed. The bedroom and bath were fairly small which was not a problem for just two of us. For those who like to cook, there was also a herb garden for the use of guests just off of our patio. The park access was also off the patio but you can drop the rollup shade to provide privacy from the park. Air flow was good because of slated windows and ceiling fans. The pool area was small but we were the only ones using it most of the time (we stayed in November). A great spot for watching sea turtles feeding of the rocks a few yards from the pool deck. Wished we had brought our binoculars. Just down the road, across from the Times market, there is a nice park that is on the beach/boardwalk running in front of the bigger hotels in the area. Lots of places close by to get take-out. We especially enjoyed the breakfast special at the coffee shop down the road by the Times market. Overall, it was nice, quiet and clean. We would stay again.

Loved unit #102a and Hale Kai Condos, only downfall was the bed. A little hard for my husbands and I's taste. Other than that, it was great, super clean, they stock you with everything you will need equipment wise. Valerie was very nice and the 'regulars' that stay at the Hale Kai are all very nice and helpful. Being able to walk out the back patio and onto the beach is also a plus with many turtles to snorkel with right outside your door! Great, quite location... we would stay here at the Hale Kai again.

We have stayed in Unit 102 before and this time was as good or better than the last. conveniently located across form a small market, coffee shop, latino market and a Boss Frog's (watersports and bike rental/tour bookings) location made it easy to get things we needed. A gas station is less than a block away and there is a Times Supermarket within 1/2 a mile for larger shopping needs (slightly better prices too!). There are great beaches just up the road and a mix of small shops and eateries. A short drive will get you to Kannapali'i beach and Lahina Town and beyond. The staff of the Hale Kai was very nice and accomodating. They have an on site laundry and recycling bins. The beach park was nice for frisbee and swimming. Snorkeling off the beach was fun and there were turtles everyday - right there. I would stay here again - as a matter of fact, we are planning our next trip already!! ;>}

Loved the location with park and beach right outside our Backdoor. Loved seeing the turtles daily. That was unexpected. Great remodel on the site. One suggestion is to get a new mattress or a top foam pad. Very hard for me. But not enough to not come back again and again.
