Hale Kai #117 is just steps to the sand, ocean and pool. From this one level, ground floor, non-smoking, oceanfront condo, you can snorkel, swim, watch turtles and even whales during that season. This well maintained modern ground floor condo has a well stocked kitchen, with granite counter tops, so it can be your “home by the sea”.

Unit #117 at Hale Kai ( which means “ home by the sea”) is comfortably decorated with tropical Hawaiian furniture and with Island style. This unit is equipped to provide you with all the comforts of home. Even with high speed Internet availability; imagine relaxing Maui style, if you must bring your laptop. On this unit’s private lanai relax with the sounds of the ocean, the trade breezes, and gaze endlessly at the ocean(or your laptop?).

Go enjoy many of Maui's wonderful sights and activities. But this unit has a history of repeat visitors whom have returned to Unit #117. So, you will need to book ahead for Unit #117 to relax and enjoy all this condo and Maui has to offer.

  I’ve been staying at Hale Kai each year for about 10 years or more. Obviously I consider Hale Kai my home away from home. The condos have all you need, the pool is right there and a small private sandy beach (sometimes a turtle will come there to rest). Plus at night there is the fun conch hailing of the sunset.

  First, this unit is managed by Hale Kai and that has definite advantages. Other units are VRBO and Aribnb and they don't have the IMMEDIATE response time for issues that hale Kai management provides. The bed was great, bathroom clean, everything functioned throughout the condo. Location was perfect for us-no stairs to get to the pool, beach or BBQ. Plenty of parking. We will return to this unit.

  Hale Kai is a small condo that has a nice pool and access to a lovely beach both in the park and just steps away from our unit. #117 has easy access off the lanai to the poo, beach or park. There are not hords of people and it is an easy place to relax, read a book, or just stare at the waves, possibly seeing whales or turtles.

  Please don't stay at the Hale Kai because if you do I'm afraid there may not be room for me! Why would you stay anywhere else in the West Maui area? Hale Kai is close enough to everything so you can enjoy them but far enough away from the crowds that you'd think you were the only one on the island. The unit we stayed in was super clean and was situated so the Trade Winds blew through the unit day and night cooling it nicely. There was no gadget you'd want in the kitchen it didn't have. Situated within walking distance are coffee shops, grocery stores, small neighborhood style restaurants, snorkel/diving/bike rental shops, and probably every other type of store you would need. The only problem was the Hale Kai was so relaxing our stay went bye much too fast. We can't wait to visit again!

  Over all the stay was wonderful, around 8 pm every night the neighbors would turn up the volume on their tv or stereo ,not sure and we could hear it the rest of the night . I would definitely ask for an upper level condo next time ,i think the view of the ocean would have been much better and you could enjoy the patio ,and leave the sliding screen door open all night to enjoy the sound of the waves and the breeze.

  We enjoyed the Hale Kai very much, because of the low key ambiance, the perfect location (great market, coffee shop and shops, parks all in walking distance). We enjoyed the pool area, seeing turtles swim by and getting to know some of the permanent residents. Karen and Valerie, at the office, were very nice and full of great information. The only thing we thought was lacking: we stayed for 11 nights and really would have liked one set of clean/fresh sheets during our stay. And 2 beach towels, for 2 people, is not nearly enough. Specially we were also using them to put on the sofa, to keep the sofa clean and make it more comfortable to sit on! and having to go and buy more toilet paper once we ran out, that seemed odd. We paid the same rate for 11 nights, then we would have paid for 4 nights! So fresh sheets, extra towels and TP would have been welcome! We are hoping to come back soon!

  I've been coming to the Hale Kai since 1979 when I was 15. To my estimation, there is no better place to stay on Maui. Peaceful atmosphere, proximity to the ocean and, of course, the people make it a wonderful retreat. My only quibble this time around would be the people who recently moved into #116. They seem to have no concept about how thin the walls are and have no qualms about playing their TV at a totally unacceptable volume level. Even after I spoke with them about the issue they still persisted in playing it too loud. It wasn't a major issue because they were usually to bed before 10pm but it was still a nuisance when I was trying to watch my TV. Perhaps others will complain and they will learn to be more considerate. Hopefully! Otherwise, everything was wonderful. Thank You!

I was not too excited about it initially but agreed to book. When I arrived, I thought the unit was adorable and had a cozy relaxing feel. Pool was right outside the unit and the beach was just a few steps away and was not crowed with tourist. It was very clean and well organized. Overall this was my best experience in Maui. We were walking distance to coffee shop and small grocery store. Farmers market was also close. Landry room was clean well organized with new units. Staff was very friendly. I love this place.   Unit #117, located north of Ka’anapali (despite its Lahaina address) is a perfect setting for a Maui vacation. There may be better locations, but I have a difficult time imagining one, especially at this price. Valerie, the manager, was very friendly and helpful The sunset views from our ground-level patio, with a backdrop of Molokai’s cloud-shrouded peaks, the island of Lanai to the south, paired with the traditional blowing of the conch shell to bring the day to an end, and the sea turtles visiting the adjoining beach, were simply magical.
  
  The unit was clean and airy due to a multitude of louvered windows front and back to take advantage of the cooling effect of the prevailing trade winds. Additionally there was a ceiling fan in the bedroom, and a ceiling fan and two floor fans in the living room for extra cooling. The kitchen was modern and well appointed with a full compliment of most any dish and utensil a chef would need. The bedroom had a king size bed, 6-drawer bureau, two night stands, a chair, and a wall-to-wall closet stocked with plenty of hangers. The bathroom was modern and well appointed, although we would have liked more shelf space for leaving out our toiletries. My wife had no issue with the following, but for me the shower head was very high and (assuming a very short person or elderly person with arthritic shoulders can even reach it) the stream of water hits the opposite side of the shower stall no lower than about 50” from the floor. I found that mildly annoying, but could be easily remedied with a hand-held shower head.
  
  All in all a very nice place which we highly recommend for its casual, island charm, and proximity to the ocean and quaint shops, although “suburban” shopping is only about 8 minutes away. We would not hesitate to book this unit again if/when we return to Maui.

  By accident, I booked a condo at Hale Kai in Lahaina (a friend had actually recommended a place in Kehei). We didn't have one regret, and said many times that we wouldn't have traded Hale Kai was nearly everything we would have wanted.   It was our first time in Maui and staying at the Hale Kai made our trip memorable and enjoyable! We opted to stay at a condo instead of a hotel/resort mainly because we wanted a kitchen and we wanted to feel more "at home", which is exactly what we got. The unit was clean and comfortable. It was peaceful and quiet during our stay - mainly families with small children and older guests. I loved that we had our own little beach just steps away where we saw sea turtles almost every day! We also had the best view of the sunset every evening! Hale Kai is also right across the street from a coffee shop and local market, which was very convenient, and also short drive away from a supermarket. It is also near some good local restaurants and an ABC Store if you forget to bring any travel necessities.
  
  It is definitely not for people who want luxurious 5-star accommodations - if that is what you're looking for, please book a room at a nearby resort. But this place met our needs and expectations. The staff here are also very welcoming and friendly. I would stay here again.

  Very nice location but the apartment needs an upgrade in furniture, dressers and closet smell really bad and very old carpet in bedroom and living room , but the kitchen was nice new, stove cupboards , livingroom very old curtain and bad stain on it . We would go back to your building but not in that apartment ,the one next to us was super nice , newer style and upgraded.

  Loved, loved our main floor unit #117. Clean and comfortable. Relaxing, close to pool and a short walk down to a small private beach. Next to a green public park, across the street from a small strip mall with a few shops and food market every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. A good place to get coffee in the mornings at Badass Coffee. A few blocks away from an ABC Store and Times Food Market. Plenty of good restaurants in and around this property. A 10 minute drive to Lahaina. Staff in office very nice and provided excellent customer service to us.

  Hale Kai is the place we go to enjoy Maui. After numerous visits there, we choose to return due to the hospitality, well appointed units and spectacular view. What draws us back is the expectation of the relaxed atmosphere and we are never disappointed.

  Although our stay was fabulous as usual, our unit could stand a wee bit of spiffing up when compared with some of the other rental units we saw. Definitely some new patio furniture would be in order. Having said that, though,overall we loved our stay here and will return once again. Hale Kai is simply the best!!!

  Really enjoyed my stay there and the unit.
  
  Only 4 Stars on the quality of the furniture due to the functionality of the patio furniture, I was really disappointed in it.
  
  The sloping back of the chairs made it very uncomfortable to eat at the table, you had to lean forward to eat. This prevented me from having my friends over for meals at night and we never used them. We ate at Ron and Ev's, unit 119.
  
  Also we could never take them to unit 119 because of the sloping back when we had our evening outside meals. There was 7 of us.
  
  They need to purchase patio furniture with the normal straight back functional chairs that allow for a normal position for eating.
  
  Without the improvement of new patio furniture I would not rent this unit again.
  
  The other rental units I saw were just fine.

  Our family stayed for a week during the Christmas holidays. We had 4 condos (#213, #119, #118, #117). The condos, the property, the staff, and even the other guests made you feel like you were home. The location was beautiful. You could sit on your baloney and watch the whales, the sea turtles, and spectacular sunsets. We look forward to our next trip back to our Hawaiian home.

  We visited dec 7-11 and had a great time. The property is right on the ocean, close to shopping and has everything you need. Lounge by the pool and take a quick dip in the ocean or pool when hot. We would go back.

  We enjoyed 2 weeks at #117, it was a home away from home, well stock with everything you require! We also really enjoyed watching the turtles out front and our morning coffee on the patio! we always had our meals on the patio. We really liked there was a laundry room on site to use, it was kept spotless with a large bunch of apple bananas hanging in front to take and enjoy. We had rented a car and were glad as you can't just walk to Lahaina. This was the 1st time renting a condo and it was great. Could use new pillows on the king size bed! Really liked the louvered windows to take advantage of the trade winds!

  I rented Hale Kai #117 for the week of my honeymoon. The rental experience was professionally handled and Valerie was extremely helpful, as my credit card company's fraud prevention kicked in and halted their charge to my card which could've complicated things. No complications arose, and Valerie was very responsive.
  I was initially concerned when I booked the room that the pool behind the unit would obscure the view of the ocean. The pictures don't do the view justice, and my fears were quickly erased upon peeking out the back door. It's a perfect location and a wonderful view. I was also concerned to discover that the unit does not have air conditioning, and being a larger fellow, I tend to get very warm very quickly. Leaving the jalousie windows open on both sides of the unit allowed plenty of air through and kept everything at a very, very comfortable temperature, along with ceiling fans in the bedroom and in the living room.
  The unit was very, very clean. No pests, bugs, etc. disturbed our stay.
  Parking was easy and not crowded. The laundry facilities onsite were clean and easy to use/access. The location is beautiful, as it's immediately adjacent to a nice beach/state park. We even had five sea turtles playing in the surf right below the pool to welcome us on our first day there.
  We didn't have occasion to use the kitchen for more than storing cold beverages, but the stove was brand new and the refrigerator is plenty cold.
  I would heartily recommend #117 to anyone heading to Maui. A very reasonable price, and high quality accommodations. I'm already trying to plan another trip to Maui, and Hale Kai is the only place I'd want to stay.

  This is a great location, walk out your sliding glass door to the pool and the ocean beyond. Turtle came up to the shore on the reef and feed right in front of us. Easy walk to coffee, food and grocery store. 10 Minute drive to Lahaina. Love it and will return.

  Condo looks out on pool with ocean and islands of Lanai and Molokai in the distance. Sea turtles feed every afternoon on nearby reefs. Friendly year-round neighbors who act as activities directors, leading the conch shell salute to the sunset every evening. North of Lahaina and Kaanapali. Farmer's market and store across the street. Adjacent to a beautiful beach park with children's playground.
