View Molokai, watch sailboats pass by, and during the winter months, watch whales -- all from the lanai. You can also walk to the beach and snorkel with the fish.   We had a wonderful time! The condo was excellent - clean, beautifully decorated, with everything we needed, and plenty of space for our own things. The upstairs lanai has gorgeous ocean and island views - we saw whales, turtles, and amazing sunsets. Resident Hale Kai condo owners were very friendly and included anyone interested in the sunset ceremony. The complex is very well maintained and comfortable, and the park next door has a calm beach - many people were snorkeling there or in front of Hale Kai. For us, a week staying right around Hale Kai is a perfect Maui experience, and anything we add is a bonus. It's so easy to catch the (hourly) bus by the park that we didn't need a car to easily get to Kapalua or Lahaina and everywhere in between, including to catch our whale watching and dinner cruises from Kaanapali beach (Teralani meets right in front of Maui Brewing). For trips south, we tended to bus one direction and enjoy the Beach Walk the other, to take it all in. To the north, the Kapalua coastal trail was a favorite, starting at Napili Bay and finishing with a reward - milkshake at the Burger Shack or happy hour at Taverna, both part of the Ritz.   I rented this condo for my son's family and they loved their visit. The kids (ages 6 and 8) were in the pool everyday and also enjoyed the small beach next door.   The unit was clean and well equipped. The view cannot be beat, especially watching the whales in the distance (they come to Maui Dec-Mar). With the full kitchen we were able to eat in a lot. The bed was comfy and the shower worked well. There's no AC but a good fan and open windows was mostly enough. Valerie in the front office is friendly and responsive. The grounds and pool are well kept. Instructions were clear and helpful. I would definitely stay again!

  The office staff (of both Valerie and Valerie) was especially pleasant and accommodating in every way. They both represented to true Aloha Spirit. We are so grateful to them for their assistance when needed.

  The location of the Hale Kai Oceanfront Condominiums is fantastic, right on the ocean with a park right next to you. We would like to thank both Valeries who work in the office, they were wonderful. They helped with booking our reservation, staying in contact, providing helpful tips, and being available onsite to answer questions, provide guidance, and help me locate my lost watch. We loved our unit 215. The unit had updated kitchen appliances, bathroom, and the owners did a beautiful job of decorating. David, who maintains the property grounds, does an incredible job keeping it beautiful and appealing. We think of everyone at the Hale Kai as family and we look forward to returning soon.

  Experience always good however 5 of our days really rained which cancelled many plans. Comfortable and clean and perfect location. Shower could be a lot hotter in the water dept. only fault.   We stayed for a week and a half at Hale Kai 215 in August 2022. The condo was very clean, well furnished and comfortable. The kitchen and bathroom are newly renovated. The kitchen has all the equipment/utensils you need. Even the pull out couch was comfortable to sleep on!
  
  The lanai and view is incredible. You're steps from the ocean, sunset side and the pool was a good size and well maintained.
  
  Turtles can frequently be seen playing the the waves from the pool deck.
  
  We have stayed a few times in Honokawai (this are of Maui) and love it. There's a great little organic market across the street (try the banana bread, pineapple salsa and Lulu koi cream cheese), a fish market a couple blocks away, a food truck area 5 mins walk away etc. Many choices of beaches nearby and lovely historic Lahaina.

  Easy check in. Incredible stay - Nothing but good things to say about Hale Kai #215. Property was clean and well maintained. I would recommend this unit to anyone. The undisputed winner in our world were the beaches of Maui. Rent a car and hit as many as you can - you won't be sorry. The Luau's were close and the one we attended was incredible.
  The real gem was the Lenai at this unit - great view morning and at sunset. We definitely plan on going back!

  Pretty awesome. The view is outstanding. The condos are located right next door to a beach park, which we used to hang out, snorkel and watch the turtles swim by. The pool was clean and quite for our stay. The lack of air conditioning was no problem, just open the louvers and the ocean air does the job. It gets hot between 2-5 pm so use the outdoor screen on your porch to keep the heat out. This unit was well appointed with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Comfy bed, great kitchen, clean bathroom. Every time we looked around for something we needed, we found it! Cleaning supplies, broom, vacuum, extra pillows, etc. Only caveat; the bedroom window is located by the parking lot and road which made for noisy evenings and mornings. Other than that, it was a terrific stay! Thanks!

  EXCELLENT experience! We will rent #215 again! We loved this place! The updated kitchen had everything we needed for meal prep. Nice, updated bathroom. Comfortable large bed. Even the pullout couch bed was quite comfortable as it has a thick mattress. It was a magical experience to listen to the ocean lull us to sleep through the screen door . We went to a few resort areas and we were so THANKFUL we were at Hale Kai instead. There were days when we had the pool and/or beach area to ourselves. Coffee and card games on the deck while watching for whales were a huge bonus. The residents and other guests were super friendly and laid back. You can't go wrong if you're looking for serenity! The manager gentleman works very hard at maintaining the pool area and grounds. The barbeque grills are cleaned every day. Eventually the corners of the unit, the baseboards, and the curtains could use a good cleaning but it's not a deal breaker. I saw some bad reviews about the uncomfortable furniture and no air conditioning and neither were an issue. First of all, you're rarely sitting around in your unit because you're always outside. Secondly, air conditioning isn't necessary with the incredible flow of air from the ocean. Convenient shopping is within walking distance. The Farmer's Market grocery store makes fantastic homemade guacamole, salsa, acai bowls, and smoothies. The Times grocery store is within walking distance, too. Bad *** coffee often had a line but we enjoyed making our own and savoring it on the deck anyway. The bus system is very efficient and easy to figure out. If you are used to fancy, expensive resorts this might not be the place for you. If you appreciate peace, quiet and laid back Maui, this is the place for you!

  This is our second time to Hale Kai different unit. Perfect in every way. . That you know is true when the day before you have to leave it feels like someone just socked you in the stomach. That day is totally ruin with the anticipation of departing the next day. My sisters and husbands were in two different units and much fun was had by all on morning walks, chats and drinks by pool side, games at our Lanai tables and excursions on the Island.

  Hale Kai is a marvelous place to stay. Small and delightful, away from the crowds and right on the beach. I was in unit 215, which was lovely.   We enjoyed a full anniversary week in Hale Kai #215. The location was perfect, just above the pool with a great ocean view. Amazing sunsets from the Lanai each evening. Weather was a bit warm and so we were grateful for two portable oscillating fans in the unit. The bed was very comfortable. Kitchen fully stocked with dishes, etc. Beach umbrellas and chairs were available in the closet. Also, we used the outdoor bbq. Residents and guests very friendly. Close to park, shopping, The Fish Market and Farmers Market. We hope to return.

  We spent a week in unit 215 in March 2019. The condo was spacious, clean and well-appointed. The expansive view and sounds of the ocean made for a great escape. We enjoyed the little beach adjoining the condo complex where green sea turtles often came up in the afternoon to bask in the sun . Beach towels and bathroom towels were available for our use and the king size bed with quality sheets made for a comfy night sleep. We love the low-vibe feeling of this complex with its many residents and guest with extended stays. Sunset provided a get together at poolside every evening for conch blowing. The pool was perfect size, never crowded but a bit chilly due to the cool weather Maui was experiencing. Valerie in the office continues to be an awesome asset to the property answering all questions, making recommendations for restaurants and outings and even fixed our TV when the cable went out! The property is lovely with views of Lanai and Molokai, whales, and an occasional sea turtle. We love this property and hope to visit again soon! We walked the neighborhood every morning and enjoyed the Farmers Market, Bad *** Coffee, the food service at ABC store, Ohana Taco's and the Fish Market.

We were especially pleased with the perfectly appointed kitchen, large comfy bed, and gorgeous shower perfect for cleaning up after a day at the beach. The location of this complex is ideal, we swam with turtles right in front of our condo! Great restaurants, grocery stores, and everything you may need are moments away. Our only suggestion would be a deep cleaning. Don’t get me wrong, the unit is clean, but a good scrub in the corners with a little elbow grease would make this spot that much more amazing.

  We were only in Maui for three nights and so appreciative that we were accommodated since the minimum stay is usually 5 nights. The condo was very clean and nice- has everything you would need. Pool was lovely and location is close to stores, restaurants, etc. This unit has the bedroom window facing the parking lot and the street and unfortunately during our stay seemed very loud. The weather was quite warm so we kept the windows open, needless-to-say, sleep wasn't good. We did not spend much time there because we were out and about so all in all it was fine.

  Although we've been coming to the Hale Kai for years, this was our first visit in October, and our first staycation, as we're currently living in Kihei. We were here 5 days, and our first and last day saw good weather, but the second night we experienced an electrical storm that went on for hours and shut power down throughout the island. That lasted until 11AM the next day, but we made it work. The unit was very well equipped (loved the sharp knives, thank you!) and the office staff was welcoming as always (Valarie is a dear!). It's doubtful we'll come in October again, but the weather was likely an aberration.

  We had a lovely stay at Hale Kai and cannot wait to go back! The condo office was very nice and helpful, and we loved that there were laundry facilities available (we didn't need them, so I can't comment but did notice the machines were coin operated). The location was perfect! Directly next to a park with a great playground and beach, plus a little shopping plaza (with farmers market, store, coffee place, etc) a block away! We spent a lot of time at the park with our 1.5 year old and the farmers market had great produce! We loved that the condo had a pool (it was our daughter's first time at a beach and we weren't sure how she'd like it) and nice beach to the north and south. We spent more time at the park's beach, since the water was a little gentler. We stayed in #215 and thought it was perfect for our needs. One bedroom with a king bed, living room, kitchen, and bathroom. Each unit is individually owned, so they're all a little different (the pictures on the website were accurate). This was not the fanciest, most upgraded condo, but it worked great. You couldn't beat the view! 215 faced the ocean and felt like we were basically in it... Sitting on the lanai was a great time and we saw multiple humpback whales! There was no air conditioning, but we didn't really miss it (during my research, it seemed like AC is somewhat rare due to high energy costs). Between the fans and the winds, the condo was kept plenty cool (although as Alaska residents, we would have definitely used a window AC unit to keep the bedroom a touch cooler at night). The kitchen was well equipped, and we used the coffee maker, blender, and dishwasher a lot. The only things missed was some Tupperware -- it would have made packing lunches for the beach easier. We initially thought the shower only would be an inconvenience with the baby, but it ended up being perfect! We would have had to fill a tub twice for proper sand removal and washing.

  With so many highly rated take-out restaurants within walking distance no need for a car at Hale Kai if you want to really rest. With green turtles on the reefs just off shore and the symphony of conch shell blowers around the pool at sunset there is always something happening.

  What a wonderful place to come! Hale Kai is a terrific place to spend time on Maui. It is right on the beach with no filtered views. It is so nice to listen to the ocean waves at night, then awake to have coffee on the lanai while watching the whales leaping from the ocean in the channel in front of you. From the ocean view room we stayed in you have an unobstructed view of both Molokai and Lanai across the channel. The room was terrific and well equipped, the staff was really friendly, pleasant and helpful, and the facility was kept clean and well cared for. There is a fun, inviting attitude amongst those staying there and the other visitors all make everyone feel like friends and family.
  
  As opposed to other complexes, Hale Kai is right on the ocean with swimming available in either the ocean or the beautiful ocean-front pool. It's not walking distance from the beach. It is part of the beach. Stores are available very close, many within walking distance.
  
  The Hale Kai is definitely on our list of places to return to. It's our Hawaii destination.

  We have visited Maui before for a day off-ship, but this was our first one-week condo stay. For us, Hale Kai is the ideal combination of great location, nice facilities, nearby necessities and fair price. Unit 215 is a step back into 1970's island deco, but that was just fine with us. The unit is stocked with everything you could possibly need or expect and the complex is very near markets and restaurants. The lanai view of 180 degree sunset and across the channel to Molokai, is fantastic. Owners and long-time repeat guests were very friendly to us first-timers. Thank you. Great pool and sandy beach are right there. We will book again for sure. Our only suggestion is to rough up the dangerously slippery last step onto the sandy beach. You are begging for a lawsuit from a crazy who slips and is injured despite the easy to read, well-placed signs warning of the slippery steps.

  We have stayed in this property 8 to 10 times in the last 25 years. Noise at night has always been an issue at times. People downstairs do not realize how noise carries out the bed room windows and upstairs. I had to go down stairs one night and tell the occupants to turn the sound down on their computer. My suggestion is a notice in the bedrooms on the wall a nice reminder that voices and noise carries upstairs.

  We had a great vacation. The condo at Hale Kai was amazing. It was right on the beach, and had a pool as well. We took advantage of the bbq pits several of the nights we were there. Everyone at the Hale Kai, staff, residents and other guests were all very friendly and made the stay that much better. I would recommend this place to anyone!

  The condos were very convenient to a good coffee shop, small good restaurants and farmers market. In addition they were situated right on the ocean front with nice pool and barbeque area. One hour drive from the airport and close to entertainment areas. Great vacation stay.

  As always the Hale Kai was a wonderful experience. The new railings looked great. The flowers on the grounds were beautiful. It was very relaxing. Many good memories...AGAIN! No better place to be.

  We have been to the Hale Kai ten years in a row and find our stay to always be a blessing. The view is magnificent, the unit perfectly located, the professional staff always willing to take care of our desires. What a tremendous new king size bed. One could not wish for a better seven week home in the midst of winter weather. We thank everyone (Valerie, Moose and Gabby) and our friends for making our stay always a good memory.

  My husband and I celebrated our 1st year anniversary in Maui and decided to stay at Hale Kai. We were so happy we did! The place was very clean when we arrived. We did find a couple of dirty clothes that must've been left by previous renters, but otherwise, everything was clean. There was no AC, but the trade winds, along with the ceiling fans and the breeze from the ocean when you open the patio doors kept the place cool. We also had the conveniences of home, a kitchen, tv with cable, bath and beach towels. It was nice to lounge outside by the pool although we didn't get much of a chance to do so. We saw sea lions and turtles while we were there! It was amazing :) It was nice to have the farmer's market and a coffee shop across the street. There's also a supermarket that's within walking distance. Valerie was also very helpful. She was prompt with emails, answering our questions and concerns. I would highly recommend Hale Kai and room 215 to vacationers! :)

  Perfect. Love that it is not a resort. Its quiet, homey, updated, adorable..condos have vaulted ceilings, kitchen with all the amenities, view was to die for, pool was impeccable, neighbors were chill. Just all around great vibes, everything you need. Could totally live here. One of those places you'd rather keep a secret but....gotta share the love.
