Located on the beautiful westside of Maui, Hale Kai #220 is a beachy renovated condo that offers three airy bedrooms and two beautifully updated bathrooms. We modernized the space taking inspiration from our surroundings, with the ocean and island in mind.

We designed #220 with the intention of creating a space for family and friends to gather and make Hale Kai their home away from home. With our fully equipped kitchen, private lanai and ocean facing living room hale kai #220 is your perfect island destination. With views of Lanai and Molokai, our corner unit provides the gentle tropical breeze and beautiful ocean sounds for a relaxing vacation.

In addition to the onsite and in-house amenities, the location of the complex provides many local spots within walking distance, including an incredible farmers market, fish market, public park and many more shopping and Hawaiian attractions.

Hale Kai #220 has been in our family for multiple generations and we can’t wait to share our space with you. Aloha!

The unit lower floor was not clean and needed to be better mopped, as bottom of feet showed. Location was convenient to many activities we like but sometimes you had to listen to loud motorcycles and autos from the main road early morning. However, despite these two criticisms, the view from the lanai and the living room was beautiful to wake up to and end the day with sunsets.

We loved our time at Hale Kai. Watching the whales and turtles each day from our deck was such a treat! The beach, although small, was nice to access the ocean for snorkeling. We loved the pool and hearing the ocean waves.

We enjoyed our stay at Hale Kai #220. We were able to watch sea turtles feasting and whales passing from the Lanai. The park next door provided a great beach for fishing. The unit was big enough to accomodate 4 adults and one child comfortably.

We were a family of 4 adults and two children under the age of 3 and stayed for 10 days. The unit was very functional and well supplied for us. It has spectacular views and great access to pool and ocean. It is a small family friendly well maintained complex thanks to Arnold and close to park, shops and restaurants. Val in the office was great to work with and helped us out with everything we needed especially being a late arrival. We managed well without air conditioning as we were supplied with multiple fans in all the rooms. Only negative was having no window coverings in the front bedroom made it very bright for sleeping also you get ocean and road noise but earplugs worked well. The Kitchen has been updated and has all newer appliances but the back splash was very stained and tired looking. Bathrooms are updated too. We had a couple of days of "dust or black ash" so made use of the swifter,vacuum, cleaning supplies and onsite laundry which is handy and reasonable priced. Overall it was a great relaxing stay.

Our family of six (including 4 teens) fit very comfortably in this condo. Pros: great location (~5 min from Lahaina) in a quiet "family feel" complex, updated furnishings, ocean views!! Cons: master bedroom has no curtains (privacy issues), street noise (but for us, not too bothersome). One big consideration: no A/C. During our stay in the last week of June, the fans and ocean breezes moving through the unit kept things cool enough not to make temperature a negative factor. Bottom line: we loved staying in this condo and would return here in a heartbeat!

One of the great experiences when staying in various residences around the world is to find the unique properties that make a lasting impression. We arrived at the condo without issue and everything from check in- to check out was easy. The condo was in excellent shape and we had ample room for our family. Though it was a bit smaller than it appears in the pictures, there is plenty of space. We enjoyed the lack of A/C which reminded me of my youth growing up on a farm. There was a great breeze from the ocean and also in the evenings a cool breeze from the trade winds in the mountains. We enjoyed the sound of the waves at night and the visiting turtles on the reef and the sand. Great up close experience watching them eat without having to get in the water with them. The quietness of the complex is really nice and a great way to unwind after long flights. The other people in the complex were so friendly. There are a number of great locations for eating and grocery shopping very close by. If you want to get out of the bustle of the resort area and just relax I highly recommend this property. It's on our list of places to return to when we plan another trip.

This self housekeeping condo is ideal if you want a relaxing vacation by the ocean in West Maui.
Aprox 45 min drive from Kahului Airport.
Beautifully decorated- casual, comfortable furniture. Fully equipped kitchen. One flight of stairs to climb to a beautiful 3 bdrm condo ideal for up to 6 people- 1 king, 1 double and 1 set of bunk beds- good for kids. Facing east and west so morning and evening sun. Spectacular ocean views and sunsets. You are right on the ocean with choice of beautiful pool or ocean swim available down small set of stairs. Beach is half rock so some may want water shoes but I didn't use them.
Beautiful sandy beach 15 min drive north to D.T Fleming Beach Park. Ocean waters can be rough so caution should be taken when swimming.
Free parking on site. Property very well maintained with office staff available during business hours and on call at other times. Very friendly atmosphere, safe to walk to shops near by, farmers market and small park with beach at adjacent property. Ideal for small children. Grocery store 15 min walk (Times supermarket). Property close to larger resorts for dining and town of Lahaina 15 min car ride away. Restaurants within walking distance. Good breakfast and food at Soup Nutz & Java Jazz-live music every night. Would recommend a car if you want to explore island. I drove around entire (rented a Jeep) Road to Hana (entire road & even back road back- not for faint hearted), Hakeakala crater (incredible-not to be missed), down to Wailea- beautiful day trip to beach. Other restaurants- Duke's, Pulehu (Italian)at the Westin notel, Aloha mixed plates, Down the hatch in Lahaina (live music). I would return to Hale Kai in a minute-suited needs of 4 adults perfectly and would highly recommend for relaxing vacation. Weather was perfect too- traveled in May.

We were a family of 5 and stayed 10 days. The location was great and super close to the water. I will say the place was definitely photographed with a big fish eye lens as it looks a lot bigger in photos. It still met our needs. Its very noisy between the surf and the road noise so definitely bring earplugs. Great grill outside and kitchen well equipped.

The refurbishment is awesome, has a very tropical feel inside, very comfortable and visually spacious. All appliances up to date, modern touches and well equipped. Clean. #220 is just great. great views as on 2nd level, all made new in high quality and the pool with direct access to the ocean from the small sandy beach is a dream. the little coral reef in front is fun and we had daily see turtle visits. While not cheap it was worth the money for us (us = 4 adults 2 kids (2 & 6 yrs)

Beautifully renovated condo. Well-equipped kitchen stocked with d/w detergent, paper towels, dish soap, etc. Comfortable sofa. Working TVs. Lovely view of the Pacific ocean including the islands of Molokai and Lanai from the living room windows. Bathrooms were spotless with complimentary toiletries. Plenty of beach and bath towels to go around for our family of four. We never used the pool or BBQ grills but plenty of other residents did. Definitely a friendly "aloha" vibe. Good location for exploring west Maui, and also made longer trips to Haleakala and Hana. Traffic can be heavy, however. Family-friendly restaurants up and down the strip. The challenges for us included the heat (no AC-but we fired up the ceiling fans), the light (no window shades or shutters to block out the morning light-but hey I like to get up early anyway) and the noise from traffic along Honoapi'ilani Highway (should have brought earplugs). The small bedroom with bunk beds also had a very bright outdoor light which shined into the room at night, causing out daughter to put her pillow at the opposite end of the bed so she faced the wall. The sound of the surf was deafening at times, particularly for our son who slept in the upstairs loft bedroom. (We live on a relatively quite suburban street in Massachusetts.) We kept all the louvers open on all the windows all of the time for air flow. It was July in Lahaina, after all! Mahalo!

Can’t beat this location. Beautiful Maui sunsets every night. Excellent beach access, great pool, Wonderful atmosphere. There are of course a few bugs (it is Hawaii after all). A bit noisy at night – – half of the noise is the ocean waves, and half is traffic from the nearby street. Bring earplugs if that will bother you and you will be fine.

We had an amazing stay at Hale Kai - our second visit to the resort and first in Unit 220. The unit has recently been renovated and it is spectacular - they have truly captured a relaxed, seaside vibe. Hale Kai is one of the treasures of west Maui - extremely well-maintained and a beautiful view of Molokai and Lanai. We made friends with turtles, birds and lizards and tried to be there for every spectacular sunset. There are amazing beaches and restaurants within a short drive, and the farmers' market across the street three days a week is excellent. We will be back again next year, and cannot wait for retirement when we will stay at Hale Kai for weeks at a time!!

Hale Kai is our family's happy place. We bring our kids & their grandma along so this 3 bed unit is just right. We stayed in unit 220 for the second year in a row and the sense of community, beauty and adventure of this spot are unmatched. We barely want to leave the condo since it's so beautiful with daily views of whales breaching and sea turtles swimming right from our lanai! Valarie at the front desk is accommodating and friendly to any request. The common facilities - pool, grills, laundry - are so well taken care of and sparkling clean. They recently remodeled 220 making a great place even more lovely. We already booked for next year - can't wait to return!

We Love the setting at Hale Kai. We have stayed at several of the condos, and twice at #220. The only reason I gave 3 stars for general condition was that when we booked we were expecting twin beds in one bedroom but found them replaced with bunk beds. Bunk beds are not suitable for adults of a "certain" age! We got by putting a mattress on the floor. This unit has been totally remodeled...new flooring, new bathrooms, new kitchen and new furniture. Very nicely done!

This was a great location for our family of 5. The Condo was Clean. We had everything we needed, Towels, some condiments, buckets for sandcastles, beach chairs. Very serene and peaceful. They offer a coin washer and dryer which worked great. A friendly neighbor offered me her soap. They do sell soap like in the laundromats. Coffee is right across the street. They have a local farmers market Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays. There is a beach park right next door. I hope to be back to paradise at Hale Kai 220.

Terrific location with great views and proximity to the beach with sea turtles swimming close by. Nearby shopping opportunities in walking distance. Property is well maintained, pool area etc. in very good condition. Apartment itself is a bit outdated but okay for staying there. Management was always helpful and we enjoyed the stay very much.

Hale Kai was exactly what we were hoping for. The condo was three bedrooms, which was perfect for us three couples. There was no necessity for Air Conditioning during our stay in mid-May as the breeze off the ocean was perfect. The staff was very welcoming and we loved the homey decor of the condo. The location was also ideal for our stay as it is only 10 minutes from Old Lahaina and 5 minutes from our absolute favorite beach (Napili) and restaurant (The Sea House) on Napili. Make sure to check this restaurant out for their amazing Happy Hour from 2-4! The condo was wonderful and we loved having the small beach AND a pool! Make sure to keep your eyes out for the Sea Turtles, which we were able to see from the balcony! Overall we would absolutely come back and visit Hale Kai again.

Wow! What a magical place. We saw sea turtles every day, whales breaching during Happy Hour and had an absolute ball swimming in the pool with our kids. Private beach is a huge plus. For the first time ever we booked the following year during our trip. We can't wait to return.

Management was so prompt and friendly. Staff was on site daily cleaning the grills, pools, etc. The laundry facilities are immaculate and quick - making it easy to travel with a family to this property. We also met a variety of nice people throughout our stay.

Hale Kai is a well maintained, perfect property for families and laid-back travelers. The unit we stayed in (3 bedroom, #220) is pretty run down - with old / breaking furniture, drawers, lights, etc. We heard they are planning to make improvements soon and we are hopeful some changes (including a new bath / shower with a temperature that can be controlled) are made before our return.

Great location. Easy walking to local shops, food, and organic grocery store (with farmers market). Corner top floor condo is a great for the view. Big open ceiling makes the space seem larger than it is. Laundry availability is nice. Pool, grill, and beach access were great. We enjoyed seeing the sea turtles as they came to shore to sunbathe. Patio was a great place to sit with coffee or a cocktail. The only thing I'll point out is that the property is in need of some TLC. Mostly minor, such as: the kitchen cabinets need painting and look past their time, the fridge door was badly rusted, the bathroom shower head was loose and probably needs replacing, the shower liner was too long for the height of the tub (you would constantly step on it). Nothing egregious (I did't expect 5 star luxury), just a little upkeep would really make this a top spot.

Lovely view! Liked the location and made the best of our stay there. We felt invisible at the Sunday evening "hostless" party except for one woman who lives there & takes care of the recycling, who was very nice. Everyone else knew each other & didn't even speak to us. Mostly old people who are regulars there. The property manager couldn't have been nice or more helpful. Shower & appliances need attention & lots of crumbs in the newly upholstered chair! Lights difficult to work. Downstairs tenant was rude!

We had a lovely time, as usual, at the Hale Kai. The grounds very immaculate, the turtles performed. It was great. The only comment was the difference in the quality of the rooms. We were split between two units and the lower unit was more updated and clean. We don't stay at the Hale Kai for luxury, We stay for the comfort and the homey feeling. One of the units really needs to be updated to stay in line with the rest of the property.

We walked in and had our collective breath taken away. What a beautiful, fresh, breezy beach house! The spaces were perfect for our family of 4.

The kids loved escaping upstairs to their own 'playroom'. The kitchen was great, particularly with the farmers market just down the road. The laundry facilities downstairs were super handy. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The parking was always available. The grounds and gardens were lovely. The beach out the front and the pool were wonderful. Watching the turtles eat their breakfast in the ocean, from the balcony, while we ate ours was an extra special highlight.

The condo was homely and simple, we immediately felt relaxed and at home. We will definitely be back and have been recommending it to our friends already.

While there, we hired a jeep and did lots of trips about. Driving the Road to Hana was a highlight. We did lots of snorkelling at lots of different beaches. The factory outlet shopping, wandering about and eating out at Lehaina was fantastic (the outlet shopping was better than Waikiki outlets). We also did the XTERRA trail running events and a bunch of road/path running.

We rented #220 at Hale Kai for 8 days in the last week of August 2016. Our stay was very enjoyable and the accommodations were as expected. The weather was warmer than we expected, so with no A/C it was tough for a couple of days. It did cool off at night so sleeping was not an issue.

We stayed for the month of February. We have stayed at the Hale Kai in the past in different units. This unit had been constantly occupied before we came and the management apologized for the dirty carpet (I have seen worse in another unit). They were quick to fix the security bar on the sliding door when we arrived but the holes in the screen remained and we kept those windows closed to keep the bugs out. The unit needs some remodeling to bring it up to par and the coach covers cleaned or replaced. It has a great view of the ocean and we enjoyed watching the whales and turtles from the lanai. The location is within walking distance of groceries, food, and an ABC Store. Over the years the traffic noise at night has increased, seems kids like to race down the road on their motorcycles these days which spoils the charm of the Hale Kai.

Our stay at Hale Kai was amazing. The condo we were in was the perfect size for our family and the location was amazing. We loved having the personal beach and pool and used the ocean side BBQ's every night! The place was well cared for and we had everything we needed for an enjoyable vacation. The villa was exactly as described. It was clean. The service was superb. We would highly recommend it. 2 things to know: no air conditioning but windows, fans & sea breeze were fine for us. Also the 2 single beds are in a small hot room and 1 mattress not too comfy.

We had 7 people fit well in unit 220. Ms Valerie was very nice, place was very clean on arrival. Location is great, close to local market, beaches, and restaurants. Islands got hit with heat wave, so like most with no AC, bought some fans. Snorkeling gear in closet was nice surprise.

CONDO # 220: Lots of space, well equipped, spotless, incredible views from the balcony and location couldn't get any better, walking distance to markets, restaurants, right next to a local public beach and playground. We saw turtles swimming right outside of our balcony...priceless.
WIFI only one line and one area of the room, the neighbours had the same issue. Needs curtains on the second floor, the sun heats up the room and makes it unbearable at the end of the day. No a/c. It looks like the condo is a good 40 years old but cozy and very clean.
Great customer service by reception staff but their welcome office has to be clean and de-clutter. It gives the entire property a poor first impression.

We were 6 people parents, grandmas, granddaughters. We stayed in this condo June 1-June 9 2015. This 3 bdrm worked out perfect for the 6 of us sharing the space. I have stayed in dozens of condo's all up and down the lower road and this is one of my favorites especially with the girls 3 & 5. This condo is not updated...we found it to be a bonus as it's kid friendly and everything works. The ocean view is amazing from the minute you enter the condo. This is a place you'd love to do the dishes or cook in because of the view. We went swimming in the pool and ocean everyday and some evenings too. We had two turtles on the rocks and one on the beach next door. My granddaughters liked the park next door. We all enjoyed the Farmers Market and Bad A$$ coffee shop. We enjoyed our stay and didn't want to leave. We also enjoyed the fresh banana's hanging for guest to pick off the branch. Thank you Valerie for your hospitality and communications prior to our stay.

We had an absolutely wonderful time at Hale Kai #220! The condo was incredibly cozy and we felt right at home as soon as we stepped in the door. Beautiful view just outside of the lanai (balcony) and we enjoyed many evenings watching the sunset and swimming in the pool.
Well located, with everything within easy driving distance. Would highly recommend and hope we can come again sometime.

While 5 family members were in Maui we were in luxury with two baths and three bedrooms. The "loft" space with a separate bathroom was especially great for my stay up super late daughter. The rest of us got a quiet nights. When we were down to three people, we moved downstairs and enjoyed walking right out our door to the pool and beach. Both of these condos were well furnished - #120 really had a good supply of pots/pans. The number of pans in #220 was good, but very basic. Condo 120 had a more updated kitchen with newer appliances and the bathroom was updated as well. #220 worked great - it was just a little older style. The management firm were fabulous to work with and made our transition from 220 down to 120 especially easy for us with the housekeepers schedule of cleaning. They really helped us out from the beginning of our reservation to our leaving day. The pool area is well kept and nice, the beach had turtles pulling out to rest on several occasions, the sunsets were beautiful the other island. We really enjoyed our stay. The off-street parking was a real plus and the closeness of the Farmer's Fresh food market and the short walk to the Fish Market were refreshing. The next door public park had open areas with tables, kids'' playground equipment and the beach area had a shallow area for toddlers to play since the coral reef there blocked most waves. Totally enjoyed our stay and will come again.

This is a great property for a large group. Everyone had a great time - a couple of things that would improve the place would be curtains or blinds as there is no way to block the outside sunshine and property lights at night making it difficult to sleep at times - also the bathroom lights shine through windows into the bedrooms so again if someone uses the bathroom at night it lights up the bedrooms. Curtains would also help block some street noise - otherwise we enjoyed and it was fun to see the sea turtles right out front and not be in the crowded tourist zone! We really enjoyed our condo. We were a family of 6 including 2 children. The 3-bedrooms, two downstairs and a loft bedroom overlooking the living room were plenty of room. The living room and loft had ocean and pool views and windows were able to be opened to give a great ocean breeze right through the condo. The units are older but are being kept in good shape. We did get some noise from traffic on the backside but it did not bother us. The bathrooms and kitchen were in good shape except the electric stove could do with an upgrade. Management were really helpful and friendly. A huge turtle came up on a rock near the beach every night much to the delight of the children. We loved the "Bad *** Coffee shop across the street and the farmers market. All in all highly recommended and we know we would rather stay here than a big modern hotel.

The Hale Kai property was fabulous; quiet, beautiful, and steps from a basically private beach. Snorkel and swim with the Turtles while grilling dinner and lounging by the pool. Walk across the street for everything you want to complete a perfect vacation, or drive 10 minutes and be at the West Maui hot spots. Unit 220 needs updating, but the rest of the complex is in great shape. 220 is an excellent location, big corner unit with huge amounts of light and cross breezes. We'll be back again. We had a wonderful stay. We could walk a few feet to the ocean and snorkel with the turtles, walk every morning to Bad *** Coffee and go shopping at the Farmers Market. Loved the location, near Lahaina. We had 3 familes with 8 people in the unit and were quite comfortable. The youngest was 15, so basically all adults - the two boys had to sleep on the couch. My husband and I stayed 15 years ago and I was a little concerned because it has been so long ago since we stayed. We were happy then, we were happy again. Thank you for a great stay. NOTE: if you are looking for a high end Spa type condo, you will not be happy. If you are looking for a well priced, place to hang, cook food, beautiful view and great location. This is the place to stay.
